Flower Blossom was born on Valentine's Day February 14th in 1991. She and I decided she was ready to "Learn To Fly" on August 31st of this year, which made her a little over 14 and a half. She had a wonderful life and she taught me so many things while she was here. Her last year was a bit tough because she was diagnosed with a large tumor in her tummy in June of 2004 and her teeth were falling out. The doctor gave her a few weeks to live back then. She refused her normal food and wouldn't drink water anymore. I think she was just trying to train me for the process of keeping her alive and happy. From
that point on, she was hand fed special meals twice a day, including fortified
French toast - her favorite "morning meal" and special macaroni
and cheese (with added vegetables and chicken sometimes)for dinner. She
would only drink water if it was mixed with something "good",
so I mixed water with apple juice or some other good quality juice and
fed her that after her meals. She always had water in her room, but she
never touched it after I started the new regimen. Milk seemed to disagree
with her, so I stopped serving that. Beer and wine - which always were
her favorites - were given on special days. As winter approached I started
giving her two Maalox coated aspirin in the morning and evening to help
her arthritis. It really did. Though she enjoyed all seasons, spring and
summer were her favorites. Ralph
